Wellbeing sessions

Support for dog guardians.

Dogs can bring such joy, love and enrichment to our lives which is wonderful. What we talk about less is the challenges of living with a dog that has challenging behaviours, complex needs and health conditions. This can be stressful, lonely, isolating and anxiety inducing. This may be something we didn’t plan for when we decided to invite a dog into our lives.

I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can have an outlet for all of these emotions with someone who understands what you are going through. This sessions are designed to help you through some of these difficult emotions without directions or judgements.

These are offered both as 1:1 and group sessions primarily online.

Support for dog professionals.

Working in the dog care industry can be very rewarding and joyful but it can often bring with it difficult emotions such as feeling overwhelmed, not good enough, lonely, isolated, frustrated and irritable. It can often feel like there is nowhere to share this load with, particularly when we work for ourselves or fear being the only one that feels like this.

These are offered both as 1:1 and group sessions primarily online.

About me

Reactive dog, anxious dog, reactive dog owner support, dog owner wellbeing, dog counselling, dog wellbeing, human wellbeing, dog professional wellbeing, dog professional support, dog owner mental health, dog mental health, dog trainer wellbeing

I’m an ABTC-ATI and PACT ABT who currently works as a trainer running my own business. I also have a passion for human mental health and wellbeing guided by personal experiences of having a hidden disability, therapy and training in Psychotherapy.

My undergraduate degree is in Neuroscience, and since then I have undergone training in Psychotherapy as well as partial training on a Veterinary Science course. These experiences have given me good insights into not just the animal components of training and behaviour but the human mental wellbeing and communication working with other humans (both clients and professionals)!

I studied for 2yrs on an MSc Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy. During this time, I worked as a volunteer counsellor for a well-known mental health charity, working with a diverse client base from a wide range of backgrounds. Working as a Placement Coordinator for a counselling and psychotherapy training institute, I also supported adult students who were struggling with their placement or just needed a supportive listening ear. I am passionate about facilitating safe spaces, welcoming people with empathy and unconditional positive regard, where people feel heard, seen and they can express themselves freely. I can’t wait to help support dog guardians and professionals by providing wellbeing sessions that are inclusive, supportive and safe!

What to expect from a 1:1 or group wellbeing session with me?

I offer a talking support service that provides a safe, confidential and understanding space which is free from judgement. I provide a listening ear with someone who understands your challenges; somewhere to bring and offload some of those difficult emotions to. These sessions will be focussed on whatever you want to talk about, primarily focussed on your thoughts and feelings, exploring how you feel. I won’t make decisions for you, but we can talk through problems together. We can have these sessions via TEAMS or telephone call.

Will you offer behaviour and training advice in these sessions?

These sessions will not involve dog training or behaviour advice. They are primarily designed to be a wellbeing space for YOU to provide emotional support and wellbeing advice. However, I can always recommend and refer you to my excellent professional colleagues if you need specific training and/or behaviour advice.
